For 20 years, the Theta Alpha Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma has been an exciting part of Greek life at Northern Michigan University! Phi Sigma Sigma was founded November 26th, 1913 based upon the core values of lifelong learning, inclusiveness and leadership through service. Our chapter prides itself on being a sisterhood that is involved, diverse and strong. NMU Phi Sigs live up to the sorority’s open motto of “Aim High!”
Phi Sigma Sigma is very active in community service, participating in making Dialysis Bags, Make a Difference Day, Relay for Life, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, and other local philanthropies. Every year we hold a Rock-a-Thon at the TV-6 Marquette Craft Show in the Superior Dome and donate the money raised to the National Kidney Foundation. We're also proud to announce that our new philanthropy is School & College Readiness. Phi Sig will be raising money to put towards school supplies, tutoring students, and participating in after school programs. Phi Sigma Sigma is involved in many campus activities, too, including Homecoming and Greek Week. Phi Sigma Sigma strives for excellence in scholarship and has an excellent program designed to help sisters with their studies.
As a chapter, we will never stop striving to do our best as sisters by giving back to the community, campus and most importantly our Fraternity. Sisters of Phi Sigma Sigma also find time to relax and have fun – a social calendar with formals, mixers and sisterhood events add to the Phi Sigma Sigma experience. We are excited to be preparing several events and special sisterhoods events to be held over the next year. It’s a great time to be a Phi Sig!
