Iota Nu - Sacred Heart University

Heart to Heart

Sending Phi Sig love to the members of our soon-to-be Iota Nu Chapter!

*UPDATE - Phi Sigma Sigma welcomed Iota Nu to our Pyramid on April 5, 2009!

Phi Sigma Sigma’s newest colony at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Ct., has been on the fast track to sisterhood since the end of December – just two short months ago.

Ever since these amazing women – members of an established and esteemed local sorority on campus with a 15-year history and strong ties to AIDS awareness – decided to affiliate with international Phi Sig, life’s been a whirlwind of sorority activities, philanthropies, recruitment sessions and fun.

They started as a group of 14. After a wildly successful recruitment on campus led by Phi Sig staff and volunteers, the colony is now 47 women strong – and immediately one of the largest sororities at Sacred Heart.

“After meeting with the other national and international sororities, we picked Phi Sig because of the closeness and the connection we saw in the sisters,” says newly elected Archon Parvin Ghazian, a sociology junior. “We could see ourselves becoming Phi Sigs, and we understood early on how many opportunities would be available to us by joining.”

The soon-to-be Iota Nu leaders just attended Leadership Conference in Chicago. And the chapter's installation is scheduled for April 4, says Extension Committee Chairman Lisa Damore – who, along with Field Consultant LaNette Sloan, has spent considerable time working with and training the chapter to prepare.

Judging from the honors earned by this colony (formerly known as Phi Omega Tau), it's clear these women have what it takes to succeed:

  • Greek Organization Most Dedicated to a Cause
  • Highest Greek Life GPA
  • Greek Female of the Year
  • Order of Omega (4 members)

Our hearts are with our sisters in Fairfield – and we wish them well as they approach installation day! Notes of congratulations and welcome can be sent to shu@phisigmasigma.org.
