Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation

The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation is our international philanthropy, which benefits school and college readiness. The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation is proud to raise funds for leadership programs, scholarships and educational grants. While our sorority has many different benefits, giving back to the community and our foundation is the best reward and is our prime focus year round. The Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation's vision is the advancement of womanhood through intellectual development, personal growth and selfless giving. In January of 2015, it was announced that there were two new partners to help with our philanthropy: Practice Makes Perfect and The Kids in Need Foundation. As the Theta Upsilon Chapter at the University of La Verne, we instill that vision by volunteering in our local community as well as hosting various philanthropic events throughout the year to raise funds for the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, which benefits school and college readiness.

Nereyda "Neddie" Iniquez Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was created by our chapter to celebrate our sister Neddie's life. Neddie passed away at the age of 21 in 2005 after battling leukemia. Despite Neddie being gone, she continues to spread her positivity and love of Phi Sigma Sigma through this scholarship every year. The scholarship is awarded to a member that is a full-time student and has actively contributed to her Phi Sigma Sigma chapter. Neddie will always be remembered not only through this scholarship but in all of our hearts. Once. Always. Phi Sigma Sigma.

Phi Sigs at Rock-n-JockRock-N-Jock is an annual basketball tournament that raises money for our international philanthropy, the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation. Clubs, other Greek organizations, Phi Sigma Sigma alumnae, and other groups of people are able to make basketball teams that compete over a two-day tournament. Teams are charged to play, while guests pay to enter. The event is open to anyone willing to support our cause. All proceeds benefit the programs of the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation. This event is one of our biggest and most popular events to attend.

Talent Show

Our annual talent show helps to raise funds the Nereyda "Neddie" Iniquez Memorial Scholarship. All students, faculty, alumni and friends are welcome to come enjoy the show or even participate in the act. Singing, dancing and stand-up comedy acts are a few of the acts we usually show.

Rock-a-thon is a philanthropic event held by Phi Sigma Sigma chapters across the United States and Canada. Rock-a-thon is a 24-hour event that helps raise funds and awareness of the Phi Sigma Sigma Foundation, which now benefits school and college readiness. Throughout the 24 hour marathon, members and sometimes even guests will continuously rock in rocking chairs on campus. The event is usually held in the fall and also features food, music and fun throughout the entire day.
