We Build to Our Walls!

Salem State University (Salem, Mass.)

Phi Sigma Sigma is pleased to have accepted an invitation by Salem State University administration to be the first National Panhellenic Conference sorority to establish a chapter on campus.

“It is an exciting opportunity for Phi Sigma Sigma to be a founding NPC organization on the Salem State campus,” said Director of Extension and Recruitment Laura Landry. “We were invited to come to campus after a group of students petitioned the university to open its doors to Greek life. As with any expansion opportunity, we are truly partners with our host institutions and couldn’t have been more thrilled to be a part of this exciting time in Salem State’s history!”

Phi Sigma Sigma conducted its recruitment during February 2012, and warmly welcomed its newest colony!

Cornell University (Ithica, NY)

Established in 1954, the Beta Xi Chapter was a cornerstone of the Phi Sigma Sigma roll call for many years, and it is with great pride that the Phi Sigma Sigma name will be a part of the Cornell University campus.

“With our Centennial just two years away, Phi Sigma Sigma is thrilled to strengthen the walls of our Pyramid at Cornell. The Cornell Panhellenic community is among the best in the nation, and we look forward to colonizing a group of outstanding women who will become active contributors to the campus and community.” explains International President Alicia Scott.

An aggressive extension strategy was put in place to support the Cornell chapter, including the hiring of two field consultants who lead the day-to-day efforts and an expansive network of alumnae volunteers who supported the chapter during the colony period and installation.

Members were initiated in Nov. 2011, officially returning the Beta Xi Chapter to Phi Sigma Sigma's chapter roll.

Capital University (Columbus, OH)

At Capital, Phi Sigma Sigma affiliated with a local organization, Chi Theta Pi, a chapter with a significant and rich history established in 1962.

“The decision to affiliate with an NPC organization was one we did not take lightly; we knew that it would take time to find the perfect fit. However, we were overjoyed when we met with Phi Sigma Sigma representatives during their visit of the campus,” stated Chi Theta Pi President Kaitlin Busch, “We knew instantly that Phi Sigma Sigma was the right organization for us and we couldn’t be more excited to learn the values and ritual of Phi Sigma Sigma and truly become a part of an international sisterhood. We were so excited.”

The members of the Chi Theta Pi Chapter were fully absorbed into Phi Sigma Sigma. A dedicated mix of headquarters professional staff and fraternity volunteers lead the colony efforts.

The Iota Omicron Chapter was installed in Dec. 2011.
